Prisoner escapes and then goes fishing

ATHENS AL- Officers from the Madison County Sheriff's Department found a Limestone County prisoner who escaped from a litter patrol. He had gone fishing near Gurley.

A spokesman for the Limestone County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday night that Brian Gregory Terrell, 32, of Huntsville was found fishing under a bridge on Little Cove Road.

Before that, Terrell was last seen at the Limestone County District 3 shed at Zehner Road at Ripley Road about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. He and five other inmates were to begin litter pick-up, said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely.

Terrell, who was in jail for forgery, allegedly arranged to have his brother, Paul Terrell, pick him up at a convenience store across from the shed, said Blakely and District 3 Commissioner Bill Latimer.

While other inmates were inside the shed, Terrell went behind a tall dirt pile and slipped out of his orange prison jumpsuit and left it next to the pile. Terrell wore street clothes under his uniform.

Terrell then met his brother behind the convenience store and left by car, Blakely said.

Paul Terrell, 25, was arrested in Gurley and charged with facilitating an escape, Blakely said.

Blakely said friends of Brian Terrell may have driven him out of Gurley. When caught, Terrell's accomplices will be charged with aiding and abetting an escape, he said.
